President's Address
As 2009 is now upon us and we endeavor into a new year and new times, let us take the time to remember what we enjoy doing everyday of our lives ... analyzing risks. Our leadership is working diligently to ensure a productive 2009 for Upstate NY risk analysts. A symposium will be held at SUNY-ESF on March 24, 2009 and a workshop at SUNY-Buffalo in the fall. In between will have a group meeting, and a joint meeting with another local risk-minded group. We will top off 2009 with a lovely holiday extravaganza.

I provide a brief description of our mission below for visitors to this site.

Upstate NY SRA provides a forum for professionals to: participate in workshops and seminars at local and regional levels; encourage advancement and understanding of new methodologies and technology in the practice of risk analysis; and serve as a resource for the local scientific, regulatory, industrial/municipal, and public affairs communities.

Our membership includes diverse risk professionals throughout our region. Membership is open to all professionals and students involved with any element of risk analysis (risk assessment, risk communication, risk management) and research informing risk analysis.

I welcome new visitors and encourage your participation and membership. In addition, I say thank you to our current members who share their time and risk expertise in our community.

If you have questions about SRA or risk analysis, please feel free to contact me directly. If you are interested in becoming a member, please click on the Members section above, and complete the downloadable application.

I look forward to seeing familiar faces, and some new ones, at our 2009 events!
